This theme park recreated the times of Ryuku kingdom, a cultural type of theme park. It was small, so 2-3 hours was suffice, unless you decide to make your own pottery, glass or other local hand craft. The park was very Japanese, not much English happens here. Konokayu 木の香湯, also known as Kugino Onsen 久木野温泉 was located in the southern Aso village. Quick 5min walk from where I stayed Little Asia guesthouse (previous post). It was such a great stop for the evening after hikes or a long day of walking around. This was not a mixed bath (men & women bath naked together; konyu 混湯 Konyoyu). There will be a separate post on the infamous mix bath Sukayu 酸ヶ湯, ‘1000 people’ bath; which I went via hitch hiking. Another story another time. That was the 4th trip to Takamatsu, so I didn’t bother to do any research. 20min ferry ride later… Voila, we’re on Megijima 女木島, Island of the Ogres. Er… Where were the vending machines? Where… Had a Maiko make over experience and it was breath taking, literately. First of all, starting from the underclothing, breathing feels like a privilege. Every breath becomes an effort. After 2 hours of hair, make up and serious layers of clothing, the… 100% empties – skincare edition. Everything was purchased with my own money or from gift with purchase. There are some that came in my subscription box, which I also paid for 😉 Zero PR, twice the fun with words LOL Most of the product were purchased in brick-and-mortar stores, because I am old school.
