The weather was not working with me that day, but it did not diminish this beauty. Kairakuen is one of the official top 3 gardens of Japan. What criteria do they use to derive this? I… We stayed at Shiroganeya 白銀屋 in Shibu, Yudanaka. This was a smaller ryokan establishment in the area 😀 Let’s take a peep together? What do they do when there’s no snow? Journalists are obsessed with their snowed up look. I had a junk food box subscription with Japan Funbox, so this was my counter measure… the healthy snack box.… This hike was originally a real trade route between 2 towns, hence the name Fengchihu (town A) Rueili (town B) historical trail. But ever since Alishan area developed a rail line, it has become a leisure 6.4km hike. Okay, my hike was a lot more creepy than expected… suddenly misted up and a bunch of birds flew off type. Basically, I was experiencing a ‘A Chinese Ghost Story’ 倩女幽魂 moment. Could not see beyond 1m. My phone camera was having more clarity than me. Needless to say, had to cut the hike short (around the 3km mark?). I chickened out after I started to imagine the bamboos were moving. ‘Fairest in the world,’ said the guide. This was one bold claim. Let’s visit this castle together and draw the conclusion later. This place is where everyone gets to climb on all four, zipline through the forest and unleash that inner jungle self. They do have some Ninja Warrior style routes as well. From a parent’s perspective, there is how to pacify the kids. Work excellently, by the way. Tried and tested.
