Right next to the Takachiho Gorge there were some intriguing food stalls. At this place, ‘you snooze or you lose’ had a new meaning. That’s right, the noodle floated along the bamboo, but not into your bowl… if you didn’t catch it in time, they just fly off the cliff. This style of serving udon was the regional specialty, nagashi somen 😀
Thanks to my hubby for the demo, this was the 3rd take… had a beer, that was not helping lol
Where is this place? Takachiho Gorge – refer to my previous post

Sugoi! I guess the only squeamish thing is – do people just use their own chopsticks or do they use the one for “common plate” only?
*LOL* I haven’t thought about the chopsticks thing wahahah I didn’t use the ‘common plate’ chopsticks (ops)
Aw, thank you so much for reading and the encouraging comment. 🙂

I’ve never heard of this! Looks amazing – will have to try someday.
This is so fun!! I absolutely love the Japanese cuisine 🙂 have a great time on your trip!!
That looks so fun! Do the noodles have any flavor, as in … are they swimming upstream in a broth or is it plain water?
Ja, it is a fun experience. The noodle swims downstream in plain source water. The noodle itself has no flavour (flour + salt + water), but it is served with a dashi broth.
Aw, kinda sad that it has no flavor. I wonder if there are any places that serve similar noodles but with flavor!
I will keep an eye out and let you know if I find any 😉
Awesome, thanks!
