Perseverance has a name, Palais Ideal – Hauterives, France

Sheer inspiration. Palais Ideal is the embodiment of perseverance. Postman, Ferdinand Cheval, born of humble beginnings with no art education built this in the course of 33 years using only his spare time. Madness has a name too it seems. The late Ferdinand Cheval (1836 to 1924) was just a normal guy and was one day inspired because he tripped over a rock. He kept the rock and found more rocks the following day… What comes next is as per the below pictures.

Tarzan adventure – Hauterives, France

Harness, maybe some gloves and I was all set! Tarzan time!!! Swing in the trees, crawl inside a barrel, walk on ropes and all the other childhood fantasies sprang into life. The rules were basic. 2 clips and 1 pulley. At all times, there will be at least 1 clip on the line. If the instructors caught you not following this simple rule twice, you will be instructed to leave the property. There were various levels of difficulties – yellow, orange, green, blue, red, black. The higher level ones were VERY high above ground, 10m+, not for people with acrophobia for sure. 20min to 60min courses. Once in the park, can do any many courses as stamina allows.

Floating shrine on the sea, Itsukushima Jinja 厳島神社, 宮島

There was a sense of refined elegance in Itsukushima shrine. Bewitching charm that graced over the water. Asia’s version of Mount Saint Michael. I spent 10 hours trying to capture the mesmerizing Itsukushima shrine 厳島神社. At every hour the view was new, at every hour the lighting was different. I wanted to capture them all. Hugely sun burn afterwards, completely lost track of time. There were virtually no bad photo spot over here. But hey, that view was just GODLIKE. Top 3 scenic spot in Japan, a title well deserved.

Safe vs Dangerous photo – Safari, South Africa

In a safari tour, one needs to know when to give it up. It saddens me greatly that yet another tourist has became lunch. Lions are CARNIVORES. We’re food, period! We are easy snacks that run slower than most animals. Opening the windows / get out of the car is not good. The below are ‘safe’ pictures to take. The below is ‘GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE’ picture.

Maiko for a day in Kyoto, Japan

Had a Maiko make over experience and it was breath taking, literately. First of all, starting from the underclothing, breathing feels like a privilege. Every breath becomes an effort. After 2 hours of hair, make up and serious layers of clothing, the faux Maiko me is made. Tata! Asian deluxe me.
