“Unusual hike” returns! With the same sweetheart whom I did the food hike. We planned to get away from the bustling Hong Kong. That kind of went wrong? Those following my IG knows why 😛
Have you ever wonder what if it rains while you’re on a boat? This is what I’m about to share. Cambridge punting has a lot of English charm and English weather is part of the package…
What do they do when there’s no snow? Journalists are obsessed with their snowed up look. Without the snow, they do look less funny 😛 but hey, they are cute with or without the snow. Snow monkey is uniquely Japanese. They NATURALLY go for onsen baths in winter. This is their way to keep warm, well, and to get a red flush of colour for their faces.
That was the 4th trip to Takamatsu, so I didn’t bother to do any research. 20min ferry ride later… Voila, we’re on Megijima 女木島, Island of the Ogres. Er… Where were the vending machines? Where were the convenient stores? Where were the people?
This was a seriously thrifty trip. Hubby and I stayed at a guesthouse (more like a local home). The key expense was transport *LOL*. Surrounded by beautiful rice paddy and various farms. So shopping / convenient store was nowhere to be seen. Just sheer natural beauty. This was 1 hour train away from the bustling Kumamoto. Surreal how the scenery changed completely. The region was called Minami-Aso (South Aso); the precise station that we were heading to was Choyo.
Beautiful town – beach, great seafood and flat landscape perfect for bicycle ride. Skagen, Northern tip of Denmark. This was a day trip from Goteborg. Hopped onto the Stena line – Goteborg to Fredrikshamn (3hr 15min ). Stena line was a large ferry with entertainment, restaurant, bar, souvenir shop and tax free booze. Swedish Government had monopoly over alcohol (Systembolaget), so needless to say, booze was expensive. Stena line was THE solution to cheap booze for any Swede. **I found some children playing the slots machine… It was apparently quite acceptable. I was flabbergasted by the sight. I am legally not allowed to publish the child’s photo, but I swear I was stunned.
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou is more lovely… Well, it was glorious weather… if 3 degrees did not bother me. Welcome to the pristine Sweden! More precisely, Köpstadsö island. This island had 100 permanent residents and ZERO cars. The only wheels found on the island were wheelbarrows. Yup, this place really exists.
