Caught the nostalgia bug today while visiting Hong Kong. It has been 2 years since I’ve officially left Shanghai! Those 8 crazy years in Mordor (locals called it ‘modu’ 魔都). Shanghai was glitsy, cosmopolitan and pure madness. Funny enough, I only miss 8 things about Shanghai. None of them are particularly glamourous.
‘Fairest in the world,’ said the guide. This was one bold claim. Let’s visit this castle together and draw the conclusion later.
At last! I feel like this is an important announcement. I have waited 5 whole weeks for this to happen. It takes 2 appointments and 2 guys to fix this up. FINALLY!!!! I thought South Africa was bad, but France is right up there too. It felt as if I was supposed to have applied for internet around the same time as my immigration documents *LOL* Thank you all for your patience xox
Beautiful beaches beyond believe! White fine sand, black sand, yellow sand… all on ONE island!!! Welcome to the French Caribbeans. Guadeloupe, the butterfly island 😀
Precisely, afternoon tea at The Georgian. The Georgian has been around since 1913. Harrods is ‘slightly older’, born 1834. If old school English charm is what you seek, I think this is the right place. I am a sucker for that traditional feeling.
This garden is another member of 日本三名園 Nihon Sanmeien, Three Great Gardens of Japan. The other 2 gardens are: Kairakuen of Mito and Kenrokuen of Kanazawa. Unlike my epic weather failed Kairakuen visit, this time, it was only cloudy and did not rain. LOL Celebration! haha
Starting a new chapter in Paris! Never imagined that I’ll land up here. I grew up in South Africa and spoke no French. Ended up meeting my French spouse while working in Shanghai. My hubby speaks perfect English. Well, it has been deteriorating since we returned to France. So here I am, pondering upon my life while waiting for the internet man to show up. *He still has not shown up. It has been 3 weeks. #$@%!@$#!
Here are my 10 impressions / 1st month highlights.
Madness! In short, this was an onsen theme park. That’s right, all different theme, type and sort of hot spring under ONE roof in the heart of Osaka. Technically, no one ever needed to leave if one had enough money. This place had a hotel, spa around the world, shopping AND restaurantS. Any type of hot spring around the world was here. It’s the place where I got so relaxed and fed that I couldn’t bear to leave? (bank account was screaming)
